How to Play

Play Monochrome Mahjongg online for free. Monochrome Mahjongg is a black and white Mahjongg Solitaire variant where you must pair identical tiles of the opposite color background to clear them from the stack. Each level gives you 5 minutes to clear the entire stack. Closed stones are frozen in place while open tiles appear in black or white. Play through 15 stages to beat the game. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
Select Help to learn about the rules of the game.
Select High Scores to view the leaderboard.
Use the drop-down list on the bottom left corner to choose the game’s language.
Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
Game Controls

  - With your mouse, left click on the stones to select them.

    - Tap on the stones with your fingers to select them.
    - Controls and indicators
      - The game’s controls and indicators are located on the right side of the screen. From the top, they are as follows:
        Cumulative score
        Level number
        Timer
        Shuffle button
        Hint button
        Pause button
        Speaker button: Turns the audio effects on and off
        Music button: Turns the music on and off
        Enlarge button: Lets you switch between windowed and full-screen modes
        Game Play
        Levels
        Levels are unlocked sequentially.
        You begin a playthrough on the first level.
        Finishing one level automatically unlocks the next one.
        The game has 15 levels.
        You can not replay previously beat levels without starting the game playing the first level.
        Each time you reload the game, it gives you 2 options:
        Start a new playthrough. This clears your previous progress.
        Continue from the last level you’ve unlocked.
        Basic rules:
        Select a pair of stones of the opposite color with the same symbol to remove them from the stack.
        Only free stones can be paired.
        Free stones have no stone on top of them and at least one side (left or right) without an adjacent stone.
        The game depicts non-free stones as frozen in ice. Each time you free the frozen stones, it removes the ice and the stone appears in its black or white form.
        Remove all the tiles from the stack before the timer runs out to win.
        All levels have a time limit of 5 minutes.
        You fail the level if you run out of time before clearing the whole stack.
        You can try again, if you want.
        You can also end the playthrough there. This lets you save your final score on the leaderboard.
        Scoring
        Your score is cumulative. The points you earn in one level carry over to the next.
        You gain 50 points for the first pair you clear and 300 points for every subsequent pair.
        You also get a bonus point for every second remaining on the timer.
        You can save your total score on the leaderboard through the following options:
        Finish all 15 levels.
        End your playthrough after a game over.
        Assistance
        Hints
        Select the hint button to highlight a valid pair somewhere in the stack.
        Each hint costs 300 points.
        Shuffles
        Shuffles change the arrangement of the tiles in the stack.
        The game automatically shuffles for you if you run out of valid moves.
        Each manual shuffle costs 500 points.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Mahjong Solitaire tile match games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
