How to Play

Play Daily Battleship Solitaire online for free. Daily Battleship Solitaire is a logic puzzle game where you must identify the location of an armada of ships. Use the number grid at the edge of the puzzle and the revealed givens to identify the likely whereabouts of the remaining ships. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, choose a grid (difficulty level) to begin the game.
- 6 x 6 (36 cells)
- 8 x 8 (64 cells)
- 10 x 10 (100 cells)
- Larger puzzles are more difficult & take longer to complete.
- If you want to answer the puzzle on paper, select Print Today’s Puzzle.
- Learn how to play the game by selecting Help.

  - Desktop
    - With your mouse:
      - Left click on a cell to make it water.
      - Left click on a cell twice to make it part of a ship.
      - Left click on a cell thrice to clear it.
      - Touchscreen devices
        With your fingers:
        Tap once to make a cell water.
        Tap twice to make a cell part of a ship.
        Tap thrice to clear the cell.
        Controls & indicators
        The game’s indicators are located on the left side of the screen. From the top, these are as follows:
        The present date
        The timer
        The legend: Shows you the sizes of the ships present and their number
        The first row of buttons, from left to right:
        Pause button: Momentarily stop the game’s timer
        Reset button: Returns everything to the way it was when you began
        Query button: Identifies if you’ve misplaced any of the ship segments
        The second row of buttons, form left to right:
        Music button: Toggle the game’s music
        Sound effects button: Toggle the game’s audio cues
        Enlarge button: Switch between windowed and full screen modes
        Game Play
        Generating puzzles
        The game generates a different puzzle for every day of the year.
        This amounts to between 365 to 366 different puzzles for each type of grid.
        You can play a different puzzle by selecting a different date on the calendar.
        Alternately, you can select next after finishing your previous game.
        Objectives
        Find all the ships on the grid using the numbers shown on the sides.
        You start the game with some of the tiles already revealed. Deduce the position of the other ships based on the available data.
        Use the query button to check if your identifications are correct.
        Marking the ships
        Marking a cell as water adds a water icon to it.
        Marking a cell as a ship first adds a gray diamond icon, which represents a ship part.
        As you fill the other cells with water, the highlighted parts of the ship turn into
        Rules
        The numbers on either side of the grid indicate how many ship segments are present in a row or column.
        Ships cannot touch another ship, even on the diagonal.
        Tips
        You can use logic to determine the position of many of the ships.
        Identify the likely location of the longest ship first and work your way down.
        The query button is your friend.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for people of all ages who like battleship or logic puzzle games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
