How to Play

Play Aidan and Emma Dungeon Adventure online for free. Aidan and Emma Dungeon Adventure is a 10-stage level escape game where you help Aidan and Emma reach their exit doors on each stage while avoiding hazards. Try to collect all 3 gems on each stage and finish as quickly as you can. Play by yourself or with a friend. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Select the brown and white play button in the center of the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen.
- Levels are unlocked sequentially.
- Your web browser automatically saves your game progress including beat levels, level completion time, and gem collection.
- The welcome screen has a sound control button in the upper left corner and a full screen mode in the upper right corner.
- Game Controls
  - Desktop
    - Emma is the pink girl. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to control her movements.
    - Aidan is the blue boy. Use A & D to move left & right, and jump with the W key.
    - Touchscreen devices
      - Unfortunately this game was designed for desktop play or computing devices with an attached keyboard. It does not have on screen controls.
      - Controls & indicators
        
        Indicators are across the top.
        
        The upper left corner of the game shows a level timer
        
        The top center shows the current level number.
        
        The top right has a pause button. When clicked this pauses the game timer, and reveals a menu overlay which allows you to either restart the current level or go back to the level select menu.
        
        The level select screen shows how long it took you to complete each level & which gems you collected in each level.
        
        Game Play
        
        Levels
        
        This game has 10 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
        
        Levels do not have a time limit, but the level select screen shows how long it took you to beat each level & how many gems you collected on it.
        
        You can go back and replay any previously beat level to try to beat it quicker or collect gems you missed.
        
        To play the next unlocked level click the START GAME button at the bottom center of the level select screen.
        
        To play a prior level select its level number until it turns yellow, then select the START GAME button.
        
        Characters
        
        Aidan
        
        Use A, W, D to move Aidan.
        
        Aidan can walk through ordinary blue water, but can not walk through lava or poisonous green water.
        
        Aiden exits through the door with the water drop on it.
        
        Emma
        
        Use the arrow keys to move Emma.
        
        Emma can walk through lava, but can not walk through ordinary blue water or poisonous green water.
        
        Emma exits through the door with fire on it.
        
        Aidan and Emma
        
        The design of this game was quite clever, requiring you to use the characters to work together to enable the other character to make it through the level.
        
        On some levels you may need one character to push a box to make a jump, or flip a lever to raise or lower a platform the other character is standing on.
        
        Some levels have gates with a switch on either side, requiring you to activate a button for one character so they can get through.
        
        One character can stand on top of the other character while the lower character moves horizontally. This is helpful for if you need to get Aidan across a large lava pit or Emma across a large pool of water.
        
        Characters can act as platforms for each other. When one character is standing on top of the other you can jump the top character, jump the bottom character, and then jump the top character again after they land on the bottom character in midair.
        
        Dying
        
        If either character dies you restart the level at the beginning. Characters can die a variety of ways:
        
        walk through the wrong kind of liquid
        
        run into an arrow
        
        Getting stuck
        
        In this game you have to activate switches, use boxes with precision, and collect things in the correct order.
        
        It is quite easy to get stuck in a part of the level where it is impossible to make it to the finish.
        
        If you get stuck you can click the pause button in the upper right corner and then hit the RETRY LEVEL button in the pause menu to play the level again.
        
        This game offers unlimited continues.
        
        Gems
        
        Each level has 3 gems in it: red, green, and blue.
        
        Either character can grab any of the gems.
        
        You do not need to collect all 3 gems to beat the level, but the level select screen shows how many gems you collected from each level.
        
        Additional objects
        
        Brown boxes can be pushed horizontally and used as platforms.
        
        Control levers can be used to move elevators up and down.
        
        Switches can be used to open gates.
        
        The purplish box activates a platform’s movements when the box is placed on the purple ground.
        
        Target Audience
        
        The game is suited for players who like level escape platformer games.
        
        The game has no adult themed content.
